For people living with incontinence, access to diapers is not simply a matter of convenience. It can affect dignity, mobility, health, participation in education and the ability to live confidently within the community.

By lending her presence to the campaign, Passaris is helping bring greater public attention to an issue that can easily remain invisible despite its profound impact on families.

The MDSK has described the September 20 event as a walk for dignity, inclusion and an end to diaper poverty, with participants able to choose different walking routes while supporting the wider campaign.

For Passaris, the occasion provides an opportunity to stand with some of Nairobi and Kenya’s most vulnerable citizens and amplify a message that compassion must translate into practical support.

Her participation also reflects the importance of public leaders using their platforms to shine a light on social issues that affect people whose needs may not always receive sufficient attention.

The campaign’s emphasis on inclusion is particularly significant. MDSK says preparations have included assessing accessibility at the venue and ensuring that participants can take part safely and meaningfully—reinforcing the principle that inclusion must be built into events from the planning stage.

The Walk for One Million Steps therefore goes beyond the physical act of walking. Each step represents a call for dignity, accessibility, empathy and a society in which disability does not become a barrier to participation or basic human dignity.

Passaris’s presence adds a prominent public voice to that message.

At a time when many families quietly shoulder the financial and emotional burden associated with incontinence, campaigns such as this create an important platform for awareness, solidarity and practical assistance.

The initiative also demonstrates the power of bringing together government leaders, disability organisations, communities, families and well-wishers around a shared humanitarian objective.

For the thousands of Kenyans whose lives are touched by disability, ageing, chronic illness and incontinence, the message is simple but profound: they matter, their dignity matters and their needs deserve to be seen.

As Nairobi takes the one-million-step challenge, Passaris joins a growing call for a more compassionate and inclusive society—one where vulnerable citizens are not forgotten and where collective action can turn empathy into meaningful support.

The walk at Ulinzi Sports Complex is consequently more than a public event. It is a statement of solidarity and a reminder that dignity belongs to everyone.

Nairobi Woman Representative Hon Esther Passaris is today joining Kenyans in a powerful demonstration of solidarity, compassion and inclusion as she leads participation in the Walk for One Million Steps at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.
